Running Links

As with the martial arts, there are many links out there in cyberspace. Here are a few of my favorites:

  1. Cool Running. A very comprehensive site with lots of race results (and more).

  2. Central Mass Striders. CMS puts on many of the races in central Massachusetts.

  3. Old Men Slow Down. Ray Fair is a very well-known econometrician at Yale. And he's also a distance runner! Here is his econometric model that projects a runner's race times as he/she ages.

  4. Mileage Calculator. Here is a "wicked-cool" mileage calculator that uses Google Earth to help you measure the distances of your favorite runs.

  5. Purdy Point Calculator. The Purdy calculator/performance predictor takes a distance and corresponding time as inputs, and uses them to compute several pieces of information and predict comparable performances for other events.

  6. MarathonGuide.com. Everything marathoning.

  7. Jeff Galloway. One of the world's foremost running gurus.

  8. New York Road Runners. One of the premier running clubs in the U.S.

  9. TowerRunning.com. Like to run up stairs?

  10. International Federation of Stair Racers. You can run up stairs in buildings around the world.

  11. Furman Institute of Running & Scientific Training. Check out the Institute's FIRST training programs.
